How does fashion relate?
Is your life part of your culture?
Is your way of living influenced by the way your parents think?
Is Fashion a cultural movement or is it just a phenomena that crosses all countries, cultures and creeds ?
Tough questions but very interesting ones too.
To go around this theme we are obliged to separate the 2 or even 3 worlds we live in.
In a developed society such as the European one, fashion is a trend, it comes and goes and everyone has access to it. No matter what religion you fallow or the colour of your skin. The important thing is to feel good with your outfit, car, dog or partner! The importance of fashion in Europe is so big that it mixes the idea you want to create of what other people think about you by looking at you and the good feeling you have by using a determined garment. So, the way you look is who you are. It doesn't matter if you are smart, if you're not into fashion, you'll always be treated as a geek.
But then you also have the other way around...if you are too much into fashion, you'll always bee seen as a moran, as you spend too much time on your looks and no time getting some information into your brain.
As i said, fashion in Europe is big for everyone. The cheapest the best!
It's ok for a Christian from Europe to use a Muslim symbol, or for a Jew to use a cross, it's fashion. No one cares about the true meaning of things. It's fashion and that's enough. The same goes for flags, how many people wear a Cuban flag or an American flag just because it's fashion?
In a country such as the USA, things are more or less the same besides the fact that they have a part of the society that still lives in the middle age, just like some of the countries they invaded some years ago. So, in America we can see all the great things related to fashion, sometimes even more extravagant then in Europe, and we can also see the total opposite. The less good looking the best, and in these cases, just like the in 3rd world countries, symbols are very important, no mixing religions and no extravagant clothes!
The idea of this article is to give you a glimpse of the different aspects of fashion/culture.
More will come soon.
