The complexity of a country that wants to release itself from war but expresses exactly the contrary to the world.
No need to go through who got there first. That’s stupid and inconsequent. There’s no interest in knowing who is entitled to act in a certain way or if the international laws are being fallowed.
There are more important issues.
Enough of endless discussions that bring the most terrifying feeling to the Israeli people.
The question is, are we all stupid? What’s going on? Is it possible that after years of grief, decades of pain and suffering, centuries of tragedy and millenniums of deaths, we really didn’t learn anything?
I want to state very laud and clear that this is not a anti-Israel text. It’s a pro-life in Israel statement. It’s a scream for the own Israelis to live a comfortable life without having to deal with the war that killed to many of our boys. Even one death is to much – this is how people think in Israel.
Politicians must stop playing with our lives. They have the true obligation to change the course of things and they must reach peace before it’s to late, and it’s already to late.
We must fight for our rights, we must have all the needed cautions and demand all we are entitled to as a Democratic and Free Country. But we must also respect our own needs and the needs of others.
We must not show our teeth to hunger, we must help and show compassion. We know how to do it. This is the only why to combat terrorism and live in Peace!
I urge the Israeli government to reach a Peace agreement with all the Arab world. For your own people!

Israel and Palestine: A sea of propaganda

Any episode that involves, directly or indirectly, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is always dominated by propaganda from both sides. A recent attempt to enter Gaza in a fleet of humanitarian aid is no different.
Seems unquestionable that the operational option used by Israel to stop the ships was not the most appropriate and, although it is still premature to make a definitive assessment, it appears that it was disproportionate. Israel tries to justify the action as self defense, but the approach seems largely unjustified.
However, to not get caught up in the narrative pushed by supporters of Israel and Palestine, it should be the entire trajectory of the case.
Once it became public the intention of the activists, Israel proposed that the delivery of aid were made by land, an offer rejected by the protesters.
Furthermore, although the ships were in Turkey, had protesters in Istanbul, near the Israeli Consulate, activists who even then seemed ready to vandalize so they knew the failure of the mission of the boats - although the fleet had yet to make a stopover in Cyprus before arriving in Gaza.
While it is undeniable the need to send humanitarian aid to Gaza, Israel's stance is not as intransigent as it announces and Hamas is not so selfless as to be advocates.
Israel lets in about 15 tons of humanitarian aid in Gaza a week. Hamas has already attacked several humanitarian organizations in Gaza and is known to only provide help to fellow, ignoring people in favor of the PLO - also Palestinians.
Although present themselves as pro-peace activists, apparently on board the ship were members of the HHI, a group known to have close ties with Hamas and suspect the fund.
Before boarding, some members of this organization have signed their wills and desires of past statements. Indeed, in interviews after the arrest, these activists said they were committed to "resistance" to Israel and expressed their wish to die as "martyrs."
However well-intentioned some activists, and as the facts set out above show, the initiative was a deliberate provocation. This was intended to put Israel in the midst of a public relations disaster that, judging by the news coverage was a goal achieved.
Attempts to negotiate were rejected by the activists, stop orders were ignored and at sea, given the nature of some of the groups that formed the fleet, the action was far from politically innocuous.

Parece ser inquestionável que a opção operacional usada por Israel para parar os navios não foi a mais adequada e, embora seja ainda prematuro fazer uma avaliação definitiva, tudo indica que foi desproporcional. Israel tenta justificar a acção como legítima defesa, mas o tipo de abordagem parece largamente injustificada.
Contudo, para que não fiquemos enredados nas narrativas difundidas por partidários de Israel e da Palestina, importa ter presente toda a trajectória do caso.
Assim que se tornou pública a intenção dos activistas, Israel propôs que a entrega de ajuda fosse feita por terra, uma oferta recusada pelos manifestantes.
Por outro lado, ainda os navios estavam na Turquia, já havia manifestantes em Istambul, junto ao consulado israelita, activistas que já nessa altura pareciam prontos para o vandalizar assim que soubessem do insucesso da missão das embarcações – embora a frota tivesse ainda que fazer uma escala no Chipre antes de chegar a Gaza.
Embora seja indiscutível a necessidade de enviar ajuda humanitária para Gaza, a postura de Israel não é tão intransigente quanto se anuncia e nem o Hamas é tão altruísta quanto advoga ser.

Yom HaShoá
Hoje é o dia da Lembrança do Holocausto.
É um dia triste, relembra tudo aquilo do que de mais negro o homem é capaz de fazer e tudo aquilo que não queremos voltar a ver.
Este dia serve para que se possa sentir hoje, não só o nojo e o repúdio que não se foi capaz de sentir naquela altura, pelo assassinato de cada uma daquelas pessoas que morreram por loucura de outros, como também para que se possa sentir que a diferença é das maiores riquezas...

Massive Arms Shipment Intended for Hezbollah Intercepted by Israel Navy

Roughly 500 tons of weapons, rockets, and missiles was uncovered aboard the cargo vessel “Francop” flying an Antiguan flag, which was intercepted and brought to the Ashdod port. The Israel Navy force which intercepted the ship included naval commandos, missile boats, intelligence and explosive experts.
36 shipping containers with 500 tons of weaponry were found on the ship disguised as civilian cargo, and hidden among hundreds of other containers onboard.
Israel Naval and Engineering Corps forces are currently unloading the containers and are sorting through the various types of weaponry found aboard.
The naval commando force boarded the vessel and conducted an initial search. The search was conducted in accordance with the usual search protocols as dictated by International Law.
Following the initial search and after it became clear that the vessel was carrying weapons, the vessel was directed by the Israel Navy to dock at the Israeli Ashdod Naval base for additional searches and a detailed inspection of the hull’s cargo. It should be emphasized that the captain of the ship agreed to the search. The Israel Navy conducted all activity without any force.
The weapons found onboard the ship originate from Iran, and were intended for the Hezbollah terror organization, for use against the State of Israel and its citizens. The weapons uncovered at sea last night constitute a harsh violation of UN Security Council Resolutions 1747 and 1701 that strictly forbid Iran from exporting or trading any form of weapons.
This is a well-known Iranian technique, taking advantage of cargo ships flying different flags in order to smuggle containers loaded with large amounts of highly volatile weaponry to terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah.
Following the necessary inspections of the boat, it is expected to be released.
The overnight operation was authorized by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense of the State of Israel. Commander of the Israel Navy, Maj. Gen. Eliezer Marom, commanded the operation from a forward command cell. The IDF Chief of the General Staff authorized the operation, after the confirmation of intelligence information gathered by the IDF.
Iranian-Exported Weapons Seized aboard the "Francop" by the Israel Navy

On the night between 3-4 November 2009, the Israel Navy seized the vessel Francop, which was sailing under the flag of Antigua and Barbados and destined for Syria with a planned stopover in Beirut. From an inspection carried out onboard, with the agreement of the relevant authorities, several containers of Iranian origin were found to be carrying weapons. A request was made for the vessel to sail to Ashdod port for further inspection. The captain of the ship agreed to this request.
2. UN Security Council Resolution 1747 prohibits weapons export from Iran. The existence of Iranian weapons in the containers represents, therefore, a severe violation of this resolution.
3. This violation is one of many violations of UN Security Council Resolutions by Iran. Iran continues to systematically ignore UNSC Resolutions, supplying weapons to terror organizations.
4. This incident proves once again that any entity that conducts business, directly or indirectly with the Iranian regime or with the Iranian shipping company IRISL, runs the risk of violating UN Security Council Resolutions.
The Francop, owned by the Cypriot shipping company UFS, was carrying containers marked IRISL (Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines), as can be clearly seen in these pictures of the seized ship in Ashdod port:

In the past few months, other ships carrying IRISL cargo, such as the Russian vessel Monchegorsk and the German ship Hansa India, were apprehended while smuggling weapons.
5. Under the guise of legitimate commerce, and by using ships, flags and ports of blameless countries, Iran is turning the Mediterranean into a base for its nefarious activities, with the aim of destabilizing regional security, as has recently come to light in the cases of the Monchegorsk and the Hansa India.
Countries should take preventive measures in order to protect themselves and their companies, as mentioned in UNSC resolutions. The designation of IRISL by the government of UK last month is a good example of such a preventive measure.
6. Iran is challenging the authority of the UN Security Council, and is mocking the international community and its institutions. Immediate and decisive action is required to stop the illegal activities of Iran and its partners.
7. Iran represents a strategic threat to world peace and stability. The international community must act resolutely against Iran's indefatigable efforts to achieve a military nuclear capability, to support terror organizations and suppress its own population. The Hamas test-flight of a rocket with an extended range of 60 km. serves as confirmation of the danger posed by Iran to Middle East stability.
8. As it appears that the weapons were destined for terrorist organizations in Lebanon, it seems apparent that this is also a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. Despite UNSCR 1701, the transfer of weapons from Iran and Syria to Hizbullah is continuing unmolested, including the intent to transfer new and dangerous weapon types.
